Torry Holt gives Stedman Bailey his approval

Since the NFL Combine and WVU's pro day, Stedman Bailey has seen his draft stock rise. Different draft pundits, scouts and coaches are seeing what we have seen over the past three seasons. Never mind his size, Bailey has the potential to be a franchise receiver in the NFL.
A former franchise receiver and member of the "Greatest Show on Turf" recognizes this. Torry Holt has similar physical attributes to Bailey. Holt is a little taller at 6'0", but lighter than Bailey at 200 pounds. The seven time Pro-Bowler has the 1oth most receiving yards in NFL history and recorded greater than 1,300 receiving yards in six straight seasons. He is now an analyst on the NFL Network.
On Monday, we observed this little exchange between Holt and Bailey on Twitter.

That's a nice endorsement with one month left until the NFL Draft.

JJ Hickson Back on Track

JJ Hickson/Photo: Bruce Ely/ Oregonian

Former NC State star JJ Hickson is trying to continue a career resurgence with the Portland Trailblazers. So far through 2012-13 NBA season the Trailblazer’s forward-center JJ Hickson for the Portland Trailblazers is averaging 12.2ppg, 11.0rpg, 0.8bpg, and 1.0apg through 38 games as a starter. Hickson career seemed to be off the rails after being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Sacramento Kings in 2011 and then the NBA lockout happened. During the lockout Hickson decided to play basketball in the Israeli basketball leaguefor Bnei HaSharon, but he ended up playing only one game for the team before returning to the United States. After the lockout was over he returned to the Kings and averaged 4.7ppg and 5.1rpg before being waived by Sacramento. After being waived Hickson was picked up by the Portland Trailblazers finishing the 2011season strong averaging 15.1ppg and 8.3rpg starting 10 of 19 games played. Before the beginning of the current season Hickson and the Trailblazers reached an agreement on a one year deal and so far he seems to be making the most of this opportunity.

Cash Following Dream In The Great White North

Alan Micael Cash/The Canadian Press

The Montreal Alouettes are tied for first place in the Eastern Division of the Canadian Football League and have clinched a playoff spot with four games left in the season. One reason for the success this season is a resurgent defense featuring first year player Alan Michael Cash. The former North Carolina State University defensive tackle the season has recorded 23 tackles and 6 sacks which ties him for the team lead with teammate LB Shea Emry. Also his 6 sacks are remarkable accomplishment for a defensive tackle and place him 4th in the CFL for sacks. This is Cash’s first season with the team after being in camp with the Alouettes last year, and also Cash didn’t even show up on Montreal’s 46-man roster until Week 5 vs. the Argonauts.  Cash played 4 seasons at N.C. State from 2006-2009 for head coach Tom O’Brien and finished his career with 149 tackles and nine sacks.
